Lillie's comment of the day
L sees the new phone we got for the house (still in it's box) on the shelf. We are getting a google-voice line for the house since our AT&T cell phone connection at home SUCKS so badly.
L: OH ... are these the new phones we get?
Mama: Yes, nice ...right?
L: I LOVE it, how many games can we play on it and does it already have movies on it?
M: NO!!! This phone doesn't have games or movies or anything, it's just for talking.
L: What kind of strange phone is that? Why didn't you buy one that works?
M: ... my wonderful iPhone generation child
L: OH ... are these the new phones we get?

Embracing my OCD Child!!!
I have always wondered "hmmm ... maybe???"
Little things like laying your outfit of the day out on the floor, with the shirt, pants, socks and underwear ... all in the right place and all MATCHING at ALL times, having your pencils always on the right side of the table and nobody better touch that pencil cup (full with lila pencils na-course) or else, walking randomly through the Supermarket and re-arranging the items on the shelves in the correct order, since some bad guys always mess up the right order, having a 15 minutes, wild and screaming fit if your mom doesn't give you the diaper with all the princesses on and instead gives you the one with just one princess imprinted on the front, having an extreme addiction to everything purple/lila ...
"maybe, just maybe we have a little controlling, slightly OCD issue here ... just maybe" ....
... then came Saturday morning when Lulu asked if she could put the cookies on the baking sheet while I worked on the dishes.
After about 10 minutes of her working way too quietly I turned around and saw this ...

NO, I did NOT tell her to space them out equally
and NO I did NOT tell her to have them all facing the SAME direction.
So now I am ready to go into the day, happily embracing my slightly OCD child :)
Arthur's Babysitter
L is in two book clubs at school and has to read each week two books and write a little report about the stories.
Lately we have been letting her just do her own thing, draw and write her reports alone and then we just read it over and correct the words with her. This seems to work much better since she doesn't worry about writing things wrong or keeps asking how to spell it. She just writes it how she thinks it's spelled.
It's GREAT!!! She is really enjoying her reports now (thanks Auntie Judy for the tip!!!).
This is her last book report:

How to ... turn powder into crystals
Borax is our new fun-element!
The silly-putty is still keeping the Ls busy and thank God, since it's been pissing rain like crazy :(
... YES, as you can tell I am SICK of it!!! ... you try being stuck in the house with two Ls who, by now, have a good case of severe cabin fever!
But this morning we have the honor of seeing the sun for a few minutes before the terantual downpour starts again and our latest project, using Borax, is sparkling in the sun and ready to be revealed.

How to ...
turn powder into crystals
Step 1
create shapes with pipe cleaners
Papa working his creative engineering magic
Step 2
dissolve 1/2 cup of Borax ( here we have the POWDER form) in hot water (now you have a LIQUID form of Borax), add food coloring of your choice
Step 3
hang your pipe cleaner shapes (suspended on a string) in the liquid borax solution and now
WAIT!!!!
and WAIT ...
... and WAIT some more ...
and about 24 hours later you'll see this ...
we turned powder into a liquid and then into crystals
guess who made this one ...
So sparky and pretty in the sun (if you are so lucky to see her!!!)

It's super easy and quite fun to watch, for the little people and the big ones ... our Papa was staring at these jars more than the Ls :)

Ta-ta for now ... I will spend the next 5 minutes roasting in the sun before this big, black cloud, on right of us, covers it and starts the dreadful rain AGAIN ....

Rain + Rain = Slime
This rain is CRAZY!!!
For three days straight now it has been pouring rain like during Monsoon season in Tucson.
Thank God we haven't started the garden yet, since it is also very C-O-L-D!!!
We even had snow on the mountains again. So much for spring time ...
So with it being cold and wet outside we opted to stay indoors and spend the day doing ???
We also used Borax for another project, but this one is in stages and we'll have to wait a few days until we can reveal the final product.
A very nice, quiet and fun day at the CZ residence.

In 5 minutes time you have a very nice and slimy substance
that will keep the little people preoccupied for some time

How to ... Make a Rainbow

Wish upon a Leprechaun
We did it!!!
We really, really did it!!!
Boy, oh boy, I knew he would not be able to resist this pretty princess in his soft and comfy bed.
I JUST KNEW IT!!!
And when L looked into her trap at school this morning, the little fella was so surprised, he turned immediately into a bottle cork leprechaun.
But, caught is caught and he ought to pay up now!
L came home beaming with pride, raced into the house, threw her school bag into the corner and out, to her "thinking space", she went ...
This is where she goes to talk to herself, her God, Willie (she talks to him there all the time, always staring upwards, into the sky) or when she just needs a little alone time (since Lulu can't follow her there ... yet).
Her wishes:
1) Please help the people in Japan and
2) please make Fifi stay with me forever.
One of them has already been granted and I sure hope that this little guy can work some magic and fly over to Japan to fulfill #1 ASAP!
As for me, I am as proud as can be of my little Leprechaun Catcher and her kind and wonderful wishes!
It could have been Legos, toys, Hawaii, never ending ice cream but now, just her little sister-friend Fifi and the people in Japan.
I really do have GOOD girls!
Good, caring, thoughtful and kind! ... and I am very proud of that!
What more could I wish for ... except for her report card which we received today, which showed in almost all areas a Mastery of Standard (which is above Expected Performance :)
All she needs is to tie her shoes (she only has velcro shoes) and to learn her phone number.
When I told her that she said:
"MAMA; can't you just write it down and give Mrs. O the number already?
She keeps asking me for your number and keep telling her to ask you." :)
(FYI, we don't have a house phone anymore, just our cells and the girls never use the phone unless it's handed to them in order to talk to Omi, Julia or GP and GM.)
