Special Child

She tried to catch a raindrop without getting wet. To her aid, it's been a LONG time since we saw, smelled or felt rain. But never the less, our L is VERY special in so many ways <3

Trumpet Chronicles

Three weeks into Band she is playing by notes. The lovesick moose calls have now turned into Vikings War Horn calls :)

She loves it!!! I am pretty impressed with her practicing. We don't even have to ask her to practice.
We shall see :)

You know you ...

... did something right if your (still) 7 year old gets up at the crack of dawn and writes this

Pat came home the other day and told me that his company gave 25K to a local Elementary school ... NOT ours though.
I was so upset about it since our school has the highest API score in the district yet our school lacks of everything from a new roof, to new paint, to a proper computer lab, for crying out loud we don't even have enough paper to copy homework on.
The Art Program is fully funded by the PTA and so are many other "extras".

Ls goal is to collect signatures from ALL 600 + students and present the letter to KT in hopes that the next school they'll support will be Curtner.

My 7 year old child did this ALL ON HER OWN!!
If you'd see me right now you'd see me beaming, thats how proud I am of my girl.
She cried in the car when I had told her about the donation from KT to Zanker (the other school) but then she takes matters into her own, little hands and demands even more :)

That's MY GIRL!!!

We CZ girls make it happen :)

Good bye FIRST GRADE!!!

Tomorrow is Ls last day of first grade ... holy smokes ... it's already over!
My little giant is growing up so fast!!!

We prepped a few goodies for a few very special people at Curtner.

A BIG Thank You for Mrs. Patti, who is our secretary (and secretly runs the school).
She makes every boo-boo better and always is busy like a bee.

L wrote a LONG letter to her teacher, thanking her for making paper airplanes and teacher to read and write.

And na-course coach Billy needed a BIG Thank You since he plays the Star Wars theme song for L every day.
Coach Billy likes basketball ...

I added a few sweet treats for some of my teacher friends.
People I have come to know and like during my short time teaching art at L's school.

Some of these people are sooo good at what they are doing and I admire their love for teaching and kids, despite the low pay and no glory job.

I better get some sleep, tomorrow will be a BUSY and CRAZY day.

Good bye first grade and HELLO summer !!!!!

I am Number 5!

L, Lulu and Nicholas posing at the dentists office after a successful removal of # 5 for L
and # 1 & 2 for Nick.

Proud smiles and happy giggles (since the torture was finally over).

And with a little bit of luck # 6 might actually come out on his own terms.

L looked at me and said "That happens?"
... poor kid has not lost one tooth without dental assistance :(

Good job my Love!
You did great and so did your little buddy and Lulu too.
We all spent 2 1/2 hours at the dentists office. I think we all deserve a little treat from a certain fairy ...

The Dive - A Story ...

... in pictures

the CRAZY kid!!!

She can do this for hours and hours and hours, while I sit on the sidelines biting my nails ...

Obviously I am VERY much into this iPhone Holga App.
I just ordered a Lomo, even better "old fashion style pics" to come!
Thanks Sasch for the tip!!!!

Arthur's Babysitter

L is in two book clubs at school and has to read each week two books and write a little report about the stories.

Lately we have been letting her just do her own thing, draw and write her reports alone and then we just read it over and correct the words with her. This seems to work much better since she doesn't worry about writing things wrong or keeps asking how to spell it. She just writes it how she thinks it's spelled.

It's GREAT!!! She is  really enjoying her reports now (thanks Auntie Judy for the tip!!!).
This is her last book report:

Arthur's Babysitter
Book Report by Lillie Czarnota

So cool!!!
I was busy learning my alphabets and numbers in Kindergarten, maybe writing a few easy words but I certainly don't remember writing book reports with 6!

Drastic Measures require Duct Tape

When you are married to a Canadian you learn pretty quick that Canadians use duct tape pretty much for everything that needs holding, fixing, taping, plugging and so on ...

Seriously, I am NOT kidding!!!
It's like a Country staple item. I am sure when you become a Canadian citizen they hand you a Passport (which is harder to get than a 6 carat diamond!!) and a "How to use duct tape for everything" hand-book.

Pat's cousin had posted a comment, some time back, about using duct tape to keep the diapers on her girls during nap time (they had discovered that they could take these things off and play with the contents quite nicely ...).
I laughed so hard when I read it and thought "Only Canadians will do that!"

Well watch out Canada, we Germans learn quickly!!!

We were in a HUGE (size XXL) dilemma tonight when we discovered that L had run out of night diapers
last night and we didn't buy new ones. SORRY my Love ... I hereby outed you :(

YES, she still needs them at night.
I know, I know ... she is late BUT I really don't care too much.
If we are still dealing with this in a year we'll start nagging her.
You try lifting a 50 lbs dead-weight kid, sleeping on the TOP bunk, out of bed at night to make her go potty!!!
Naaa ... NOT ME!!! I can hardly hold her head anymore. She is solid as a rock!!!

So back to the HUGE dilemma.
I searched everywhere, over and under ... but there was not one of her night-diapers for BIG kids left, nothing hidden in a corner or under the bed. NOTHING!!! Now what to do? What to do?

BINGGGGGG
(light bulb lights up over my head!)
Kelly!!!! YES!!!!

And so we did this tonight ...

My little SUMO!!!

From a size 5 toddler to a size XXL for Juniors in 5 seconds!!!

Lulu: "That's my Hippy-Di-Pooh" diaper!!! I want it back!!!"
Lillie: "I'll give it back tomorrow"
Mama: "NOOOT!!!"

The Patient

Everybody expresses feelings in their own words or ways.
Lulu goes "cross eyed" and
apparently L's current state of mind is somewhat "wounded" ...

The Patient

I guess this means she is "broken-up" over our friends leave?

Poor baby ... L said she got run over???

Should I be worried?
At least they don't draw pictures of bloody people laying all over the street
and a monster truck with big, white, sharp teeth grinning over the casualties.
There is still hope of recovery for the Ls
... I hope!

Sexyyyyy!!!!

Thats is what my almost 6 year old proclaimed she is  "Lucy, look I am sexy! ... giggle-giggle-giggle"
WHAT???? was my response. What's sexy L?

And this is her explanation of "sexy"
It's when you wear very pretty clothes, and your hair looks and smells good and you have lots of make-up on.
And all the boys want to marry you. And then when you find the boy (you now like I found Jay) then you take your pretty clothes off ....

.... screechhhhhhhhh ... (picture me in slow motion and the word NOOOOOO screaming out of my mouth, thinking the "unthinkable" was explained to her at school) ... my jaw almost hit the floor ....

... so you take your pretty clothes off and put on a beautiful wedding dress (phew ... Thank you Lord!!!!) and the boy looks very handsome in his marrying clothes and then you get married and live in a camp car.
Thats what sexy means Mama!!!

Good, you may go now and play with your sister my dear child while I open a bottle of wine and wash the shock away. :)
