The Lila Beach

This was the day! The day we had prepared for, planned for and hardly could await!
I had read about California's Purple Beach in a Magazine a while ago and since my Lulu is so into purple we had to, of course, find this beach and check it out. this was the sole purpose of this trip, to find the Lila Beach and so find Tide Pools.

With our cool Tide Pools Viewers, sand toys, a beach blanket and a bag of bagels in the trunk we set out on our journey.

The Quest of finding the Lila Beach!!!

Jumping for Joy!

It took a while to get to Pfeiffer Beach, mainly because there was huge parade of the Old Times coming into town and Highway 1 was lined on both sides with spectators and photographers. Traffic was merely crawling both ways and camera flashlights went off every second. I felt like a Super Star followed by the paparazzi.
The Ls loved it. I old them they were all wanting to see the Explorers who want to find the Lila Beach :)
We saw many, many of these antic cars on our way and after downloading the theme song to Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang" we were totally into it. "Mama look, another Chitty is coming!".

 "final" destination

All geared and fired up

We are HERE!!!

Breathtaking!!!
This is one the most beautiful California Beaches I have been to, very secluded and very serene.

LILA SAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides beautiful offshore views of rocks and sea stacks and some nice surfing waves, this beach has unusual purple sand, from manganese garnet particles washing down the hillside. I read that it's most purple/lila in the early mornings but we still found lost of lila everywhere. We did feel almost (just almost) like Columbus the moment he discovered America. This is what we had come to find and we DID!!!!

Breathtaking views!

The Tide Pool Viewer in action

Picture from our little excursion on the rocks of one beach side.

We couldn't find any rock-tide-pools with sea life in them but we had a huge sand-tide-pool right on the beach and Ls were playing in it all morning.

The Tide Pool Viewers were a hot item and lots of kids asked for turns to use them.
I was mighty proud of "my" invention.

pooped out!!!

I was a bit disappointed that we could not find any real tide pools or wild life so I decided to stop on our way back and check out Point Lobos, another COOL Cali Nature Viewing Point.

The Ls and I hiked for almost 2 hours on this trail.
We had hoped to find the sea lions but this was a completely different trail (as I found out much later).

Big L searching for all restrooms on the trail ... seriously!!!
She should have her own blog "publickrestroom.com"

"this is a huge birdie flamily" Issie said :)

Real Life Kelp Forrest

Bambie!!!

Still no Tide Pools but we did have our share of fresh air and lots of play time out in the beautiful Cali country side.
On our way home I spotted a Whole Foods. We loaded up at the Hot-Buffet and ate dinner at one of the little tables right in front of the cash registers. We dined on chicken and pea risotto and watched people check out their groceries and pay for their food :)

Day two of the girliecation ... done!!!!
