Her legacy will live on

... yes indeed it will! ... we have two huge bags in the freezer and enough to feed an army in the fridge.

She served us well! And as predicted, we were stuffed and regretting the overindulgence of her tasty gifts shortly after we had finished supper.

L proclaimed it was the best dinner ever and Lulu, while snacking on her choice of supper - Pretzels, said she liked it too (I guess these pretzels were REALLY god).

Now, at 10:00 pm we have cleaned the kitchen (for the 20. time today), put Saint Bertha back into the freezer for safekeeping of her holy body[parts] and Pat and I are fighting the Turkey coma as strongly as we can (but I fear we are going down quickly).

In-between the cooking we didn't do much, except for hanging out with our jet-leg fighting Papa, taking Ed, the floating poultry turkey-herd dog, for a much needed walk in the wonderful sunlight of this wonderful afternoon on this wonderful family day and crafted some delish Ginger-babes ...

(L "ordered" these in bulk from Oriental Trading ... she INSISTED that we
"really, really need them Mama, really!"

Then St. Bertha came back from her Spa Day,
looking mighty good after her "heated oven treatment"

I added some German goodness to the table,
in form of dumplings and red cabbage

We said Grace and combined were thankful for being able to spend this holiday together as a family.

... and then we ate until ...
... we couldn't anymore

Oh yeah ... and then it got crazy out-of-control!!!

Pat and the Ls went down on the dance[kitchen] floor and
"got-it-on-baby"

The nightly dancing performance turned into a family disco night.

We will, we will ROCK you!!

Crazy-Hair L doing the Robot

It's not a party until L takes her clothes off!!!

Ed rocking out too of course!

This was the CZ Thanksgiving Celebration.
Since neither Pat nor I are Americans we are not too much into this holiday (sorry!!!) but instead we celebrated us being back together and Pat being able to fill his belly with poor Saint Bertha.
Next year I will veto the Turkey thing ... a nice pasta dish will work just as fine but I won't tell Pat about it until next Thanksgiving :)

I am now ready to let the Turkey coma take me to a nice and hopefully warmer [it's COLD!!!! outside] place.

Honorable Mention of the Day
We all missed our Boo-Boo VERY much today!
It was our first Thanksgiving without my Willie-boy and he was sorely missed!!!
When Ed was happily picking up the "accidentally" dropped Bertha pieces from the floor I had flash backs of Will being all over Turkey Day food scraps. It must have been his favorite day of the year besides his Cheeseburger b-day parties.

I hope you got lots of treats today at heavenly doggy beach, my little, sweet, always tail wagging Forever-Dog! We all miss you VERY much. L was talking about you all day and kept saying that you are still part of our family. How right she is!!! You are and will always be.

Message from Meow for you:
"Miss you my friend! Wish you were here!"

Message from Ed for you:
"Thanks for letting me use your big, soft, red bed big bro and for showing me in spirit how to drive them bonkers ... I think it's working :)"

We miss you lots!
Love, your mama & papa, your Ls,
Meow, Zoe and your new baby brother Eddie

Saint Bertha

Bertha, so I named her, laid in our bathtub enjoying a last cleansing and warming bath before the heat of the oven will roast her slowly, spreading her scrumptious aroma all over 711 Coyote Street.

She lived a short and probably very unfulfilled life and she gave it all for us (not willingly I would guess).
She gave herself to us, carnivores, so we could overindulge on her young and juicy body, stuff ourselves and regret eating way too much about 20 minutes after supper has been served.

Therefore I decided on this faithfull morning of November 25, 2010, in sunny Milpitas CA, to grant her Sainthood. Sainthood for dying for us and our lust to eat her. She very well deserves this.

The ONLY reason why she ended up in my bathtub and later in our digestion system is because of my poor, jet-legged, overworked, meat-deprived husband, who arrived yesterday after a long journey back from Singapore to surprise his CZ girls for Thanksgiving.

Since I hadn't really planned a Thanksgiving feast due to the fact that we, the CZ girls, anticipated to be "papa-less" on this festive occasion, we raced out last night to fetch a last-minute turkey and sides to go with.
If you wait until the last minute to plan and shop for Thanksgiving supper you'll end up with whats left in the poultry over-flowing shelfs of every grocery store in the US. You end up with this ...

a SMALL 20 lbs, young and juicy St. Bertha
floating leisurely in our bathtub
thawing her frozen wings and legs in a nice warm bath

23-34-44,
the perfect turkey-lady measurements
isn't she just stunning!!!

very volumtious lady!!!!!!

Resting before the blazing, hard work begins.

I have spent too many of my lonely nights alone in front of my BFF "PC" reading on PETA's website to fully enjoy the pleasures of a wonderful, home-cooked turkey dinner this year.
I am hoping I can give St. Bertha immortality by posting about her and her sacrifice for us.

She is measured to feed 20 people by weight. Awesome!
We are two adults, one 6 year old CARNIVORE and  one 3 year old born-vegetarian.
Bertha should feed us for most of 2011.

My secret plan is to spread the joys of her juicy meat with whoever walks across our street.
May she have not died in vain ... we will honor your sacrifice by sharing.

Oh come all ye hungry and forever starving
Oh come all ye hungry to Milpitas

To be continued....

28 Days of Being Thankful - 2010

Last year we started a new CA CZ tradition.
We counted down the days to Thanksgiving by creating paper 4's [as in Thankful 4], wrote a note on it for what we'd be thankful on that day and then hung them in the kitchen.
By the time Thanksgiving came around the window was covered with all these wonderful, colorful creations of the girls and their thankful notes. They were so much fun to make, to look at and to read.
I still have the whole pack from last year ... I just can't make myself throw them away.

Here is the whole bunch of 2009 Thankfulness of the Ls

L was Thankful 4 her Jayden (to no surprise!)

Here they were Thankful 4 the Nutcracker
(I can't wait to take them this year, especially Lulu!!!)

Megan ...awww. We miss you girlie!!

Baby Carter ... he was soooo tiny last year!

This year we'll be doing the same, of course ... we have to!!!
Yesterday we made special colored paper out of paper grocery bags.
(we even put little Mr. Jakob to work
... hey, it's not all fun and playing over here, you'know ;)

We painted the bags, after we had crumbled them up, with red, green and yellow, added some metallic paint for the shimmer, an old toothbrush was used to add dark brown paint splatter for "real" leaf effects.
I found this in the Family Fun November Edition.

I really like the look!

... and today we created the first three leaves (L, Lulu and Jakob).
After I pulled out the "4's" from last year tonight I decided that more sparkle and personal touch is needed for each and every "Thankful Leaf" since the ones from last year were so pretty and colorful.
We'll work on that tomorrow!!!

And with this it is my great pleasure to introduce to you the November Highlight of the amazing, world famous, spectacular and gripping Necklac-Lee Blog ;)

28 Days of Being Thankful - 2010

 She was thankful for Halloween

VERY nice work my little man!!!

From now until Thanksgiving I'll post whatever the Ls and Jakob are thankful for ... this should be a fun series!!!
