It's been on our minds and in conversations for a few months now.
I chickened out twice and talked her out of it but for the last two weeks she had nothing else on her mind.
So after some careful consideration and LOTS of online research I gave in.
Thanks to Aunty Judy we were well prepared ...
Super Auntie Judy gave us a topical anesthetic, which we applied a few hours before the "procedure"
We wrapped it up air-tight and sealed it off so it would be nice and NUMB.
At this point I am already queazy and am ready to call it quits but little Misses "I can do anything"
was SUPER excited!!!
At the mall (with L and Papa as back-up since I surely would have chickened out if I had been alone with Lulu) Lulu is STILL all smiles. Whats wrong with that kid? Does nothing scare her???
Another honorable mention, this time for Auntie Nimi, who sent us to Clair's to get it DONE since this is where she took her girls.
I was going to take Lulu to a Piercing Parlor but the Lady does it by hand, with a needle and I didn't think neither me nor Lulu would be able to take it.
Clair's used Disposable Guns, so no left-over germs from the previous procedure. That put my worrying mommy mind at ease ... a bit ...
We had bought some nice studs already, made out of surgical plastic, but we could not use them since they didn't fit into the GUN!!! they use.
THIS one!!!
She chose a white gold flower stud with little pink sparklers.
X marks the spot ...
Holding on tight to Papa
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that picture!!!
With Papa right behind her she faced the scray situation with a HUGE smile and no fear ...
While I was trying to find a convenient hiding spot to throw up. The Necklace Display seemed to give me some privacy in case ...
#1
#2 ... she looked a bit "unsure" but she said it didn't hurt at all and ...
... was all smiles and SUPER proud when it was done ... seconds after it had just started.
The NEW sparkler in her itty, tiny ear lobe.
Loving the one-arm-glove-style she has going on here ;)
Showing off her new accessory PROUDLY!!
Pat said "Man you made it through TWO deliveries but you get squirmy watching this?"
YES, when I gave birth it was ME who had the pain, NOT MY BABY.
It's something completely different when your little one is having a procedure done and you can't do anything but watch (and we are talking about a little ear piercing and not some major, medical procedure.)
God knew I wasn't built for this when he was so gracious and gave me to healthy, little girls.
And I am so thankful for that since I have seen the pain in a mothers eyes when she is faced with serious health issues of her little one.
I can only bow my head to these Super Moms for being able to do it.
Not that they have a choice anyways but it takes a strong person to not crumble and be tough for the baby and the family.
I am not sure how I would manage ... very poorly I suspect.
Lulu is fast asleep, dreaming of the most, sparkling, fanciest lila diamonds in her ears, I am sure.
So far no tears.
We cleaned it twice, I touched it and moved the stud and she didn't even make a sound.
I gave her some Motrin just in case but so far ... so good.
We will see what tomorrow brings. I am waiting for the big boo-boo to come.
I remember when I got my ears pierced, they got SOOO infected and hurt like heck. I hope we wont go down that road ...
Fingers crossed!!!
We are so blown away by our little Issie, who was such a VERY BIG girl today.
L said "NO WAY!!! I will NEVER get holes in my ears!"
And trust me, when she says "NO WAY" she means it!!!
