Kids say the darnedest things ...

I taught the Kindergarten class again today, through the Junior Achievement Program.
I flew solo today since my co-pilot aka GP had left the war zone and immigrated to Canada after his session last week :)

Here are a few comments that made me smile:

Action Item 1: Draw something that you would buy with your saved money.

Me: Oh that is a nice dress. I really like it.
S: Yeah, it's a designer dress that costs gazillion dollars.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Me: What is that? A toy phone?
M: NO!!! it's a iPod Touch and a docking station.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Me: Nice box. What is in it?
S: A Apple Laptop. I don't want a Dell!
Me: OH ... I see ...

Action Item 2: Draw your favorite vegetable.

Me: Corn. Nicely done! Why do you like corn?
S: Because it's sweet and it makes me poop.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Me: Broccoli, awesome. My daughter loves broccoli too!
S: I don't like broccoli but my mom makes me eat it anyways.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Me: Tomato, yummm! How do you eat your tomato?
S: In ketchup.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Action Item 3: Question to class
Me: See the grandpa is reading to the child in a big chair. Does your grandpa read to you sometimes?
S: Yes but then he falls asleep and he toots in his sleep.
Me: OH ... I see ...

Action Item 4: Question to class
Me: Have you ever saved money before?
S: I got 15 BUCKS. I took them from my grandpa.
Me: OH ... I see ...

S: I have $176 and 48 cents. I am RICH!!!
Me: Yes you are!!!

Gosh, if I'd be a teacher I'd write a book about that stuff.
I did not know that corn makes you go #2 ...
Learn something new every day!

I was quite impressed with the hi-tech things the kids wanted to buy.
Just to compare, my daughter made a picture of a BIG, HUGE, HUMONGOUS chocolate cake for the item she wanted to buy with her money.
THAT'S MY GIRL!!!!
